What God Can Give You When You Finally Let Go

Maybe surrender isn’t God asking you to accept less. Maybe it’s him asking you to trust that there is more. More peace than you’ve known here. More love than you’ve had to fight for. More life beyond the thing you’ve been terrified to lose.

Open your hands. You don’t know what God may finally be able to place in them once you do.

God keeps asking you to let go, and you keep thinking it’s because he’s withholding something. Like he is saying no just to test you. Like he doesn’t care how badly you want this. But that’s not it at all.

God is asking you to let go because what you’re holding is in the way

Jacqueline Whitney

God is asking you to let go because what you’re holding is in the way. Your hands are gripping the wrong thing so tightly that there’s no room for what he is actually trying to give you. That person you keep going back to? They’re standing in the space reserved for someone who will actually choose you. That plan you’re forcing?

It’s blocking the path to something that won’t require you to drag it into existence. You think surrender means loss. He knows it means preparation.

But God won’t pry it from your hands. He will keep asking. He will close doors. He will remove access. He will make it harder and harder to hold on. But the final release? That has to be yours.

Not because he is powerless to take it — but because you can’t receive with clenched fists. The gift he is holding requires open hands. And the longer you grip what’s already gone, the longer you delay what’s trying to arrive.
