Your Daily Devotional 6/8/2025: Beyond Anxious Thoughts & Into Deep Care

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5:7

Devotional Message

Worrying is like worshipping the problem. We spend most of our precious energy fixated on what might occur, the worst-case scenario, or the ways in which we won’t be able to handle what comes our way. Because we’re spending this much energy focusing on what we cannot control, we miss out on the present moment and the life we are currently living. But rather than passively worrying, what if we turn to God? What if we cast all our anxiety on Him, knowing that no worry is too small or too big for Him?

When we truly understand how God genuinely cares about our concerns, well-being, and lives, we come to realize that nothing is excluded in His eyes—’all anxiety’ truly means all of it. Even the seemingly mundane things are important for God to handle or take over. The nature of worrying is not only proof that we don’t trust God to handle it, but also stems from a deep-rooted belief that we must handle everything alone.

When we cast our anxieties on God, we deepen our faith tremendously in two distinct ways. First, the heaviness in our hearts is immediately lifted, providing us necessary relief from all that we’ve been silently carrying. Second, we trust Him so deeply that He will restore us and that circumstances will turn in our favor.

The next time worry infiltrates your mind, rather than being anxious about what’s to come, turn to God. Give it to Him. Express what hurts, why, and what you’re afraid of. Allow yourself to release control of how you think things should go in order to create space for what is meant for you to come through. Perhaps the worry in your heart is proof that you don’t quite yet trust Him fully…yet it also is the catalyst for deeper freedom and peace that comes with handing it over to God, who cares for you.

Let’s Pray

Dear God, lately I’ve been feeling anxious over everything in my life, worrying about the future and questioning how to move forward. My heart feels heavy and my mind is clouded, as all of this feels too much to bear. But I know how deeply you care for me and how you are always here to protect me, so today I come to you to cast all my anxiety on you.

I have this tendency to handle everything alone, but I no longer can live like this—so I’m handing it all over to you. Help me experience the peace and freedom that comes from trusting in your care, and remind me to turn to you in all of the upcoming anxious moments I may have. I trust that you will handle everything perfectly because you care for me. Amen.
