“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord
Jeremiah 29:1
Graduation of any kind is a monumental milestone in one’s life. However, it also opens up questions about purpose, calling, direction— what’s next?
These 13 devotionals are for new graduates entering an entirely new life chapter filled with excitement, but also uncertainty. As you walk this new path, just know that God is guiding each step you take.
1. Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
You’re not stepping into a random future—God has already laid the path for you. His plans are intentional, not accidental.
2. Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
God doesn’t call you to something and leave you alone in it. He equips you with the tools you need to succeed and walks you through each step.
3. Zechariah 4:10
“Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel?”
Every great story has a humble beginning. Be faithful in the small; God honors it.
4. Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Do not be wrapped up in the chase for prestige. When your ego is feeling bruised, remember, God already calls you His. Your identity is secure in Him.
5. Matthew 6:33
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Rather than chasing success, chase God’s kingdom first—everything else follows when you put God at #1 in your life.
6. Proverbs 16:9
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
You may feel lost at times, but God never loses track of your story. Hold onto peace in these times of confusion and trust that God has your back (because He does).
7. Colossians 3:23
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
Whatever your hands find to do—do it like you’re doing it for the Lord. Pour your heart and soul into it.
8. Isaiah 40:31
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Seasons of waiting are often where God does His deepest work in us. Remember that life needs to pause sometimes before it can truly play out.
9. 1 Peter 4:10
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
You’ve been uniquely wired for purpose—use your talents to serve others and glorify God.
10. Hebrews 10:24–25
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Don’t try to do life alone. God designed you to thrive in community. Lean on them. Reach out.
11. Philippians 2:15
“So that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’ Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.”
You’re called to stand out—not blend in. Be a light wherever God sends you and stay true to the beacon you are.
12. Psalm 37:23–24
“The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.”
God doesn’t need you to have every detail planned. Instead, He wants you to trust in the next step he has laid out. Live more fluidly.
13. 2 Corinthians 10:12
“We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.”
Your calling is custom-fit by God. Stay focused on your following your heart, not someone else’s.
As you walk across the stage this graduation and follow your path into the unknown future, know that God is with you. He authored your journey, and He’s faithful to complete it.
