This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked from him.
1 John 5:14-15
Devotional Message
Anytime we find ourselves feeling called to pray to God, it is because our souls believe He has already answered it or will answer it. Otherwise, why approach the throne of grace? But the moment we pray for something—whether it’s healing for a loved one, provision for our family, or guidance in a major decision—often what happens is that we begin to doubt its possibility. We question if God heard us, if it’s possible for us, if we’re worthy, if we deserve it, if we’re spiritually capable of receiving what we’re asking for. That level of doubt is what disconnects us from God’s presence—not that He won’t answer our prayers, but that we’re coming to Him from a place of fear and doubt which inadvertently stifles our ability to receive His divine blessings. Until our spiritual vessels are confident, only then are we ready to fully receive His goodness.
Praying with confidence versus doubt or fear is a sacred spiritual act—when praying from a place of divine trust, it is not that we believe we’ll receive our exact desires but rather is a certainty that whatever we do receive will be according to God’s perfect will. That whatever way our Heavenly Father decides to answer it, we trust that it will always be for our highest good. Confidence doesn’t mean that we know what we’ll receive, how, or when, but that whatever does come will serve our best spiritual interest, to align us on His divine path, to fulfill the sacred mission our souls came here to do.
Acknowledge this—God hears every single one of our prayers, and He will answer them in His perfect timing. Knowing this, we can trust His divine methods of answering and the timing of them, and we can become more intentional with our prayers. We can ask not only for what we desire but for guidance, faith, supernatural strength, patience, and support. Rather than begging God, we can boldly approach His throne to ask Him to lead us on the path that is most righteous. And then we will come to realize that every prayer we have ever whispered has already been answered in eternity, and the moment we meet it will be the perfect moment where we can fully hold, receive, and carry that divine blessing forward.
Let’s Pray
Dear God, today I’m praying for You to align my desires with Your will. I trust that You hear every prayer I offer, so rather than asking for specific requests or outcomes, I’m coming to You today to ask for patience, strength, resilience, certainty, faith, and guidance. Show me where to go, what to do, who to speak to, what to say, and what to hear—so that I can gain wisdom to discern Your will and also act boldly by following the breadcrumbs I know You will offer me today. I trust that everything I desire has already been fulfilled and that You are transforming my character in order to receive the blessings in Your perfect timing. Amen.
