You Are Royal In God’s Kingdom, Here’s What That Means

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1 Peter 2:9

When God pulled us out of the darkness we were once enveloped in, He not only blessed us with His presence, but also bestowed multiple identities that prove how deeply loved we are—chosen, royal, priestly, holy, His special possession.

To be chosen is the greatest honor each of us can receive—it is God’s deliberate selection, where He chose not only our individual selves, but every experience, upbringing, connection, relationship, and life path, all with deep intention so that we might fulfill what He designed us to achieve in this lifetime.

It is our holiness that sets us apart for God’s special purposes—in that sacred uniqueness, each of us has the opportunity to serve in a way that benefits others. We are both kings and priests with direct access to God, proving that He sees us not as commoners, but with the high status of royal servants in His kingdom.

When we reflect on our lives before the light entered—our troubled years, the rock bottoms, the heartbreak, the suffering—we clearly see the dramatic contrast of receiving God’s light and love. But the reality is that many people remain enveloped in their own darkness—individuals that you, with your unique brilliance and gifts, can now reach by declaring God’s praises through how you live. By fully understanding your royal, holy identity, you become the light that guides others out of their darkness and toward the wonderful light of God.
