A Prayer To See Yourself Through God’s Eyes

God doesn’t look at you and see a list of failures or a person who has fallen behind; he sees a heart he intentionally designed and a life he is still deeply invested in. You don’t have to fix yourself before you’re allowed to look at your reflection with grace. You just have to be willing to see what he has seen all along.

God,

I’ve been seeing myself through the wrong lens for too long. Through the lens of my mistakes. Through the lens of what I didn’t accomplish. Through the lens of comparison, criticism, and every harsh word I’ve spoken over myself. I’ve been believing lies about who I am, and I’m tired of it.

So today, I’m asking you to help me see myself the way you see me. Not through the filter of my failures, but through the truth of your love. Remind me that I’m not defined by what I’ve done wrong —I’m defined by whose I am. Help me see the value you placed on me before I ever did anything to earn it.

When I look in the mirror and only see flaws, help me see your creation. When I feel like I’m not enough, remind me that you don’t make mistakes. When shame tells me I’m too broken to be loved, let your truth be louder — that I’m forgiven, redeemed, and deeply cherished.

God, change the way I see myself. Let me see what you see — someone worth fighting for, someone worth dying for, someone you call good. Help me believe it.

Amen.
