There are things we hold onto long past the moment they stopped being good for us — not because we don’t know better, but because letting go feels like losing. Like admitting defeat. Like opening a wound wider instead of closing it. But sometimes the most painful exit turns out to be the quietest kind of freedom. And sometimes, in the middle of the night, clarity finds you.

I know letting go felt unbearable at first.
You thought releasing it would destroy you. You thought you would regret walking away. You thought keeping the connection, even in its painful form, was safer than grieving it fully.
But look at you now.
Look how much lighter your spirit feels when it is not constantly trying to earn love from people who could only meet fragments of you. Look how much more clearly you can hear yourself without confusion constantly surrounding your heart.

Some things break your heart while they are leaving.
Other things break your heart while they are staying.
And wisdom is learning the difference.
