A Prayer For The Parent Who Feels Like They’re Not Enough

If this prayer found you today, maybe it was meant to.

God, meet them tonight. They’ve been holding so much.

Remind them that they are not failing. Remind them that the very fact that they’re worried about being enough is evidence of how deeply they love. Remind them that they are exactly the parent their children need, even on the days they can’t see it.

Lift the guilt they’re carrying for being human in a role that asks them to be more than human.

– Jacqueline Whitney

Soften the inner voice that keeps measuring them against impossible standards. Quiet the comparison that’s been making them feel behind.

Lift the guilt they’re carrying for being human in a role that asks them to be more than human.

Let them know they were chosen for this. That you trust them with these specific children. That the love they have to give, even when it feels small to them, is enough.

Hold them tonight, God. They’ve been holding everyone else. Let them feel held.

Amen.
