I want to tell you about the kind of love I’m preparing you to receive.
It’s not the kind you’ve experienced before. It’s not love you have to translate.

It’s not love that requires you to shrink to fit inside of it. It’s not love that makes you anxious about where you stand.
The love that’s coming will feel like rest. Like an exhale you didn’t realize you’d been holding. Like the absence of all the bracing you used to call chemistry.
It will look like consistency in the small things. Showing up when they said they would. Following through on the little promises. Choosing you in the moments you’re not asking to be chosen. Loving you on the days you don’t feel particularly loveable.
It will feel like coming home to a version of yourself you didn’t know was waiting for you. You won’t have to perform. You won’t have to manage their feelings about you. You won’t have to convince them of anything.
I know you’ve been disappointed before. I know hoping for this kind of love feels like setting yourself up. But what I’m preparing for you is different. It’s not a different version of what hurt you. It’s the actual thing.
