Some of God’s greatest blessings are the ones you never thought to ask for. As August begins, leave room for the possibility that he has something even better in mind than the plans you’ve been holding onto.

God,

I’m not coming into August with a rigid plan of what I need you to do or exactly how I need you to show up. I’m coming with open hands and an expectant heart, asking you to surprise me. To move in ways I didn’t anticipate. To answer in ways I didn’t think to pray for. To show up in places I wasn’t even looking.

Surprise me with provision I didn’t see coming. Surprise me with a door that opens when I wasn’t even knocking. Surprise me with peace in a situation that had no business being peaceful. Surprise me with people, with opportunities, with moments that could only be explained by your hand being in them.

God, I’ve spent too many months trying to predict what you’ll do and being disappointed when it didn’t match my expectations. This month I’m letting go of the script. I’m trusting that what you have for August is better than anything I could have planned, and I’m asking you to move freely — without the limitations of what I think is possible.

Surprise me, God. I’m ready for it.
