Maybe this year hasn’t given you everything you hoped for yet, but that doesn’t mean nothing has happened. God may be doing some of his most important work in the parts of you no one else can see.
You: I’ve barely gotten anywhere.
God: You’ve gotten somewhere important. You just can’t measure it.
You: I’ve been struggling more than I’ve been thriving.
God: You’ve been transforming more than you’ve been comfortable. Those aren’t the same thing.
it’s just been happening in you, not around you yet

You: I feel like I’ve lost time.
God: You’ve been developing character that will serve you for the rest of your life.
You: Nothing transformative has happened.
God: So much has happened. It’s just been happening in you, not around you yet.

You: I’m not where I thought I’d be halfway through.
God: You’re exactly where I need you to be for what’s about to happen in the second half.
You: I’ve disappointed myself.
God: You’ve grown in ways your old self would be amazed by.
