A Prayer For The Strength To Start Over One More Time

Starting over is never as clean as it sounds. It is not simply a new beginning — it is the acknowledgment that something you had hoped would last did not, that a path you were walking has ended, that you must now find the courage to take a first step when everything in you is exhausted from having done this before. There is a grief that lives inside a new beginning that does not get spoken about enough. But there is also something quietly powerful about the person who chooses to rise again anyway — not because starting over is easy, but because staying down would cost them something they are not willing to lose. If you are standing at the beginning of something you did not ask for and are trying to find the strength to take the first step, this is for you.

God,

There’s a part of me that feels tired of starting over. I am tired of rebuilding, of hoping again, of putting myself back into something that might not work out the way I want it to.

But I’m still here. And somehow, I still want to move forward.

Today, I’m asking for strength — the kind that helps me take the next step even when I don’t feel fully ready. Remind me that starting over is not something to condemn. That it doesn’t mean I’ve lost my way, it means I’m being given another chance to build something better, something more aligned, something that actually fits the life you are leading me toward.

Give me the courage to try again without carrying all the fear from before. Help me release the weight of what didn’t work so it doesn’t follow me into what could. God, if this new beginning is where you are guiding me, meet me in it. Strengthen me as I rebuild. Restore what feels worn down in me.

And this time, help me trust that I am not starting from nothing — I am starting from experience, from growth, from everything you have already brought me through.

Amen.
