A Prayer For When You Feel Like You Missed Your Chance

Your life is not a series of missed chances, and your mistakes are not bigger than God’s mercy. If you feel like you are behind, it is often because God is slowing you down to protect you from a path that wasn’t built to hold the weight of who you are becoming.

You didn’t miss out on what was meant for you. You were redirected away from what would have eventually asked you to settle. Trust that the God of the infinite beginning is still weaving your story together, even in the parts that feel like loose ends. You are being prepared, not passed over.

The best parts of your story aren’t behind you — they are still waiting for you on the other side of this season.

God,

Please settle my heart in the truth that your timing is not a race I can lose. When I look back at the doors that closed or the moments I wasn’t ready to walk through, remind me that nothing meant for my soul could ever truly pass me by.

Part of me still carries the weight of the “almosts.” Today, I bring those missed opportunities to you.

Give me the grace to release the version of the future I thought I needed. Help me to see that the delays weren’t a denial, but a divine redirection — a gentle space where you were protecting me from paths that would have eventually asked me to compromise who you created me to be.

If I am mourning a chance I think I wasted, remind me that your plan for my life is not so fragile that one moment of fear could undo what you have already spoken over my story. Replace my regret with the peace of knowing I am exactly where I need to be.

God, teach me to trust that the best parts of my life are not behind me — they are being prepared for me right now.

Amen.
