A Prayer For When You’re Scared Of What God Might Ask You To Give Up

The hardest part of faith isn’t trusting God with your problems. It’s trusting him with the things you love most.

God,

There are places in my life I haven’t fully given you access to. It isn’t because I don’t trust you. Its because I am afraid that if I do, you’ll ask something of me I’m not sure I can say yes to. And that fear has been quietly keeping me at a distance from the very surrender I know you’re calling me into.

Teach me that surrender isn’t loss. Remind me that every time you’ve asked something of me, what came after was always worth what I released. Give me the kind of faith that doesn’t negotiate with you over what stays and what goes, but trusts that your hands are safer than mine, even with the things I love most.

I want to trust you completely, God. Not just with what’s easy to release, but with what costs me something to let go of. Meet me in that place. And give me the grace to open my hands before I feel ready.

Amen.
