Guarding your heart isn’t about being closed off. It’s about being intentional with what you allow to influence you.
You are allowed to step back from anything that makes you feel less like yourself. You are allowed to protect your peace without explaining it to everyone.
Not everything deserves access to you.
God,
You see how easily my heart can be affected by what surrounds me — the people I listen to, the environments I stay in, the noise I give my attention to. You know how quickly I can start to carry things that were never mine to hold.
Today, I ask you to guard my heart, God.
Protect me from influences that look harmless but slowly pull me away from who I am meant to be. Give me discernment to recognize what is not good for me, even when it feels familiar or comfortable. Help me not confuse closeness with alignment, or presence with purpose.
If something is shaping me in the wrong direction, make it clear. If someone is affecting my peace, give me the strength to step back without guilt. Teach me to be selective with my energy, with my attention, and with my trust.
God, I don’t want to become a reflection of what drains me. I want to be rooted in what is steady, honest, and aligned with you.
Guard my heart, and guide my choices.
Amen.
