Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
James 1:17
Every beautiful blessing in your life came from the same source—God’s role is to be our ultimate giver in our lives. Any gift that is good, complete, lacking nothing, peaceful, wondrous, and magical is what God considers perfect—and when we really come to think of it, the perfect gifts that God bestows upon us are always much brighter than what we ever once prayed for. They exceed our expectations, the timing of them feels divine, and the way in which they manifest feels supernatural.
The truth is, however, that God is gifting us at each moment of our lives. Some are obvious, some are subtle. The greatest gift, however, is the one that every living being at this time is given each morning, the one that most of us take for granted—another day of life. That is the ultimate gift. Because within that day, God continues to bless us endlessly—the love we receive, the doors that open, the abundance that is poured over us. Not in large gestures only, but in the quiet moments too—a little dose of luck, a smile from a stranger, receiving good news.
God’s nature is unchanging in this way—’the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows’—He always wants to, and always will, gift us endlessly. But in a changing world, we often miss out on these moments of divine blessings. The moment we remember that God is not only our creator but also our giver, we open our hearts into a state of immense gratitude and perspective, knowing that ‘every good and perfect gift is from above’ and comes from our loving God.
