God Is Not Distant Even When People Are

We all have moments when we feel like we’re all alone with our thoughts, like there is not a single person who can understand the kind of pain and confusion we are going through. We all have moments when we’re surrounded by noise, yet we feel so empty and hollow inside. These moments are not meant to torture us, but they are meant to guide us one way and one way only: to God.

Because God is not distant even when people are, God is always near. Always one prayer away, always one call away, always one wish away. When people are too busy for you, God is not. When people pull away, God draws you closer. When people judge you for your mistakes, God sees your truth. When people abandon you, God never leaves. The truth is, you may be the one who drifts or gets distracted, but God is always there, waiting for you to turn back to him.

I know it’s hard to believe that through the silence, the loneliness and the unanswered prayers that God is close or that he sees you, but it’s actually the perfect invitation. An invitation to finally listen to what God has been trying to tell you through these challenging moments. An invitation to learn the lessons he’s been trying to teach you. An invitation to lean more on him and less on others. An invitation to count the blessings that you take for granted. An invitation to be still, to step away from the noise and hear his whispers, his wisdom and feel his love.

So when people feel far, when your words fall on deaf ears, when you feel betrayed and scared and when it feels like you’re stuck not knowing what to do next, talk to God. Pour it all out, cry, scream, ask all your burning questions because he holds space for your confusion, your heartbreak, your anger, and he gives you back your strength, your faith and your hope. God doesn’t want you to be perfect, he just wants you to be honest and he doesn’t want you to figure it all out, because in those raw, unfiltered and chaotic moments, that’s where he meets you, to reassure you that you are not forgotten. You are never, ever alone. He’s here picking up all the broken pieces with you.
