How God Shows Up When You’re Brokenhearted

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed
in spirit.

Psalm 34:18

It is in our darkest moments where God truly reveals himself to us. Whenever we experience immense suffering, grief, heartbreak, or emotional pain, our souls get crushed—we are emotionally devastated by what we are experiencing. Oftentimes, we question why God could allow such terror in our lives, believing that God is distant if He’s allowing these things to unfold and leaving us in this broken state.

But it is in our brokenness that God quietly, yet intentionally, comes and holds our hands. This becomes a moment of divine encounter that marks a pivotal point in our relationship with Him. When we are crushed in spirit, that is precisely when God saves us—from leaning solely on ourselves, from believing we must go through it alone, from thinking we will never heal or don’t have enough strength.

God is not just promising His presence, but also His salvation and deliverance, because if God led you to it, He will lead you through it. And when you walk out on the other side, not only will your heart mend, but you’ll find your hands are still holding His as you continue walking ahead.
