Thank You God For What Didn’t Work Out

Thank you God for what didn’t work out, for every blocked road, for every wrong turn, for every person we loved and lost. Thank you for closing doors that could have led to a path of destruction or endless pain. Thank you for showing us the red flags early on so we don’t waste any more years trying to fix what’s already broken. Thank you for all the failed opportunities that could have cost us far more than what we could have gained. Thank you for revealing the truth to us, even when it hurts because it brought us clarity, and helped us see what you were trying to show us all along.

Thank you for not giving us the job we thought we wanted, you were trying to protect us from environments where we wouldn’t have been heard, valued or appreciated. Thank you for saving us from careers that could have drained us. Thank you for redirecting us to find what we love, follow our passion or explore our creativity.

Thank you for ending the relationship that could have led to more heartbreak and pain. Thank you for giving us the strength to walk away even when we were still in love because you taught us that love doesn’t mean compromising our standards or allowing ourselves to be disrespected or mistreated. Thank you for teaching us that we can live without anyone, especially those we thought we couldn’t live without. Thank you for all the tears we cried over the wrong ones because they cleared our vision and cleansed our hearts. Now we know how to choose better, how to leave sooner, how to move on faster and start over.

Thank you for teaching us how to let go. Let go of what no longer serves us. Let go of the past mistakes. Let go of all the what-ifs and the could-have-beens. Let go of the fantasies, the false hope and the unfulfilled promises. Thank you for instilling in us the kind of faith that realizes that some things aren’t meant to work out for us the way we want them to because that means something better is coming along.

Thank you for not answering all our prayers because sometimes we don’t even know what’s best for us, sometimes we just seek instant gratification. But you always know what’s best for us. You always know that what’s next will be much better. You always have a special surprise waiting for us. So thank you for what didn’t work out, you took away what wasn’t meant to stay and made space for something much more meaningful and fulfilling.
