When You Feel Like You Have No One, Remember God Is Still With You

For the person who has been quietly thinking, “I have no one”: loneliness may describe how tonight feels, but it does not describe how deeply you are held.

God: Can I tell you something?

You: Yes.

God: Every time you say, “I have no one,” it breaks my heart a little.

I know that’s what it feels like. I know there have been nights when the silence has felt louder than my voice, and days when you’ve wished there was someone beside you to carry what you’ve been carrying.

Every night you cried yourself to sleep and thought no one knew

But you’ve never walked through a single one of those moments without me. I’ve been with you every morning you didn’t know how you’d get through the day. Every hard decision you made without knowing if it was the right one. Every night you cried yourself to sleep and thought no one knew.

You: It didn’t feel like you were there.

God: I know. But my presence has never depended on your ability to feel it. Loneliness has been telling you that you’ve been abandoned, when the truth is I’ve never once left your side. Even on the days you felt like you had no one, you still had me. Please don’t ever forget that.
