Devotional Message
Daniel sees prophetic vision of Jesus receiving cosmic authority: “There before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven.” This “son of man” is both human and transcendent, earthly and heavenly, the One who will bridge divine and human realms. “He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence” describes Christ’s access to the Father, the intimate relationship that exists within the Godhead, the Son welcomed into presence of the eternal One.
“He was given authority, glory and sovereign power” reveals the transfer of cosmic dominion. Not authority seized through rebellion or power grasped through ambition, but authority given, bestowed by God Himself. This is Jesus’s rightful inheritance—authority over all creation, glory that reflects divine nature, sovereign power that governs everything. “All nations and peoples of every language worshiped him” describes universal recognition of His lordship, every tribe and tongue ultimately bowing before the One who was given dominion.
The vision continues: “His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.” While earthly kingdoms rise and fall, empires crumble and nations fade, God’s kingdom endures eternally. The contemplative invitation is to recognize that you’re living under this dominion now—that Christ already possesses the authority Daniel saw in vision, that His kingdom is already breaking into present reality, that the worship all nations will one day offer can begin in your heart today. When earthly powers feel overwhelming, remember: they’re temporary, but Jesus’s dominion is everlasting.
Let’s Pray
God, thank You for giving all authority to the Son of Man. Help me live under Christ’s dominion now, recognizing His everlasting kingdom breaking into present reality. When earthly powers feel overwhelming, remind me they’re temporary while His reign is eternal. Let my worship today join the worship all nations will one day offer. Amen.
