But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33
Devotional Message
When we prioritize God, He takes care of our practical needs—not necessarily the material desires or wealth we aspire to, but the essential provisions that allow us to live in peace, joy and good health. When we put God’s kingdom above all—the kingdom of love, peace, and purpose within our hearts—our entire approach to work, money and daily concerns transforms. If we carry God’s kingdom within us, we already possess the greatest treasure—what else could we possibly need beyond this divine inheritance?
Seeking God first in modern life often feels challenging, for the world around us focuses on outward success, material possessions and external recognition. Yet when we turn inward to the Source, we discover that none of those things can provide the peace that God alone offers. Nothing external can match the joy and love that God pours into our hearts. We tend to worry about finances, career and basic needs, believing we must be entirely self-sufficient. However, when we put God first, we experience outcomes that exceed anything we could achieve alone.
The sacred balance lies in responsible planning while trusting God’s provision. We do what we can with what we have, find gratitude in it all, and allow God to guide us toward greater abundance. This level of trust not only frees us from everyday worries and stress, but also builds the character capable of stewarding whatever blessings God provides. In God’s economy, our deepest need is simply faith in Him and his budget is limitless. As long as we maintain that trust, we are free to leave the rest in His capable hands, knowing He provides for His children, always.
Let’s Pray
Dear God, help me make you my first prioritiy rather than being concerned about material things. I want to trust your provision over everything, so help me discover the freedom that comes with doing so. I trust that you will guide me in living out kingdom values in practical, everyday situations, releasing the anxiety about my finances, career securty and material possions. I know that I already have it all, as long as I have you – so teach me how to live from that place and to discern what consitents true needs versus wants. I am at peace knowing you see and care for me, even if I can’t always see it. Amen.
