Your Daily Devotional 12/14/2025: What Remains When Everything Else Falls Away

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13:13

Devotional Message

When everything else dissolves—when systems fail, when certainties crumble, when the structures you built your life upon are proven to be temporary—three things remain: faith, hope, and love. “And now these three remain” speaks to what endures beyond circumstance, what survives when everything else is stripped away. These aren’t religious concepts to master but soul realities to embody, ways of being that reflect your deepest truth.

Faith is the soul’s capacity to trust what it cannot see, to lean into your knowing when answers disappear. Hope is the heart’s refusal to close even when disappointed, the stubborn belief that Love is working beneath the surface of things. But “the greatest of these is love”—because love is the ground from which faith and hope emerge, the ultimate reality that holds everything together.

Love isn’t one virtue among many but the divine nature itself flowing through you. When Paul declares love as greatest, he’s revealing the truth that Love is the foundation of existence, the energy that births worlds and sustains souls and creates life. Everything else—your achievements, your knowledge, your spiritual gifts—will eventually fade. But love remains because Love is what God is, and when you love, you participate in the eternal.

The contemplative path leads you here: to the recognition that beyond all your doing and striving, beyond your successes and failures, what remains is Love. Not love as emotion but Love as the ground of being, the divine presence moving through you toward the world. When you live from this Love, everything else finds its proper place.

Let’s Pray

God, teach me to live from the three that remain—faith that trusts beyond sight, hope that refuses to close, and love that reflects Your eternal nature. When everything else falls away, anchor me in Love, the greatest of these, the ground of my being and the truth that endures. Amen.
