Your Daily Devotional 2/19/2026: Being Transformed Into Christ’s Image

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3:18

Devotional Message

Paul describes transformation that happens through contemplation: “We all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image.” Unveiled faces suggests nothing blocking your view, no barrier between you and divine presence, no veil hiding God’s glory from your sight. When you contemplate—when you gaze at, focus on, keep your attention fixed on—the Lord’s glory with nothing obstructing your vision, transformation happens not through effort but through exposure. You become what you behold.

“Are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory” reveals the process and direction. Not instant transformation but gradual becoming, “are being” suggesting ongoing action, present continuous reality. You’re being transformed right now as you contemplate Christ—not by trying to change yourself but by keeping your gaze fixed on Him. The transformation moves you into His image, conforming you to His likeness, making you reflect His character. And it happens “with ever-increasing glory”—glory building on glory, transformation deepening over time, each degree of change preparing you for the next.

“Which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit” identifies the source. This transformation isn’t self-generated through discipline or willpower—it comes from the Lord, specifically from the Spirit working in you as you contemplate Christ. Your work is the contemplating; the Spirit’s work is the transforming. When you keep your attention on Jesus—His character, His teaching, His sacrifice, His resurrection—the Spirit uses that contemplation to conform you to Christ’s image. The invitation is to stop trying to transform yourself through effort and instead fix your gaze on Jesus, trusting the Spirit to do what you cannot.

Let’s Pray

Lord, transform me into Christ’s image as I contemplate Your glory with unveiled face. Help me keep my gaze fixed on Jesus rather than trying to change myself through effort. Spirit, do Your work in me as I focus my attention on Christ’s character, teaching, and sacrifice. Change me from glory to glory through what I behold. Amen.
