Your Daily Devotional 2/20/2026: Receiving Grace From Christ’s Fullness

Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.”

John 1:16

Devotional Message

John describes the endless supply available to you: “Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.” Christ’s fullness is inexhaustible—not limited resource that depletes when distributed but infinite abundance that never runs out. You’re not drawing from shallow well that might go dry but from ocean depths that remain full no matter how much you draw. “We have all received” emphasizes that this isn’t for spiritual elite or those who’ve achieved certain level—everyone connected to Christ has access to His fullness.

“Grace in place of grace already given” suggests continuous replacement, wave after wave, one grace following another without pause. It’s not that you receive grace once and must make it last—you receive grace, then more grace, then grace again in unending succession. The Greek literally means “grace upon grace,” like waves rolling onto shore in constant rhythm. Just when you think you’ve exhausted divine resources, another wave of grace arrives. You’re never without what you need because Christ’s fullness keeps supplying grace upon grace upon grace.

The contemplative invitation is to stop rationing grace as if it’s limited supply you must carefully manage. You’re not drawing from finite reserve that requires conservation. You’re receiving from Christ’s fullness—abundance so vast that what you take doesn’t diminish what remains. When you’ve failed again and think you’ve used up your allotment of forgiveness, grace upon grace arrives. When you’re facing new challenge and doubt whether you have enough strength, grace upon grace flows from His fullness. Stop living from scarcity and start receiving from the endless supply available in Christ. His fullness is the source; grace upon grace is your experience of it.

Let’s Pray

Jesus, help me receive from Your fullness rather than living from scarcity. Teach me that grace isn’t limited supply I must ration but endless waves rolling in without pause. When I think I’ve exhausted divine resources, remind me that grace upon grace keeps arriving. Let me draw from Your inexhaustible abundance without fear of running out. Amen.
