Devotional Message
God acknowledges that trials and tribulations are inevitable during our human experiences—that we will experience overwhelming circumstances such as floods, challenges that feel like mountains we cannot conquer, pain that feels unbearable, or refinements that feel like parts of us are being burned away. But what He promises is that His presence during these trials will never waver—He may not remove the trials, but He will be with us as we traverse them. And that is the greatest thing we can hope for—knowing that through each trial, our characters build, our faith deepens, and our resilience takes root, and knowing that God is beside us through all of it proves that we will never need to move through them alone.
Not only are we promised divine presence and protection, but also that we will not be consumed by these trials. The very language God uses—’when you pass through the waters’ and ‘when you walk through the fire’—is proof that there is a beginning, middle, and end to our trials. Although we may not know where in that journey we are, we can place our faith in God’s commitment to sustain us throughout the entirety of it. The waters will not sweep us away, and the flames will not set us ablaze. We may experience the trial, but we will pass through it safely. This promise reminds us that whatever new struggle comes our way, we are held, protected, and safe by a love that never wavers.
Let’s Pray
Dear God, I want to thank you for your continuous presence in my life during every difficult season. It is because of your guidance, protection, and support that I didn’t give up, that helped me feel like I wasn’t alone through the waters and fires of life. It was also what allowed me to have faith that if you helped me get through those past trials, I trust you will do the same for this current one.
As I face the challenges before me now, I ask that you make me aware of your protection. Show me with crystal clarity that you are with me again, helping me pass through these rough waters without being swept away. Remind me that these flames will not consume me, but that I will walk through them safely because you are beside me. Thank you for holding my hand and leading the way through every trial. Amen.
