He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.
2 Timothy 1:9
Devotional Message
Your calling and purpose isn’t based on performance, good behavior or worthiness. Before you took your first breath, before you made your first choice, God’s heart was already set on you. The grace you’ve received—salvation from sin—was predetermined and planned before creation began. It flows to you through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, not because of anything you’ve done, but because of His divine love and sovereign will. When you realize that God’s eternal purpose for you predates your existence, it changes how you see yourself and your relationship with Him. The Creator of the universe has a greater plan at work in your destiny than your own efforts or failures.
Each day, God invites you to live a holy life—to reflect His character in your work, relationships and communities. When you choose to be loving, just, wise, gracious, compassionate, merciful, kind, and forgiving with everyone you encounter, you’re fulfilling God’s purpose for your life. It’s through embodying His character that you become a vessel for your unique gifts. From that foundation, you can create, innovate, teach, lead, and serve with authentic power.
The freedom comes when you find confidence in God’s choice rather than your own abilities. Instead of striving for acceptance, you can live from acceptance. In God’s eyes, you always were and always will be enough. This truth offers both humility and confidence—humility because you didn’t earn His grace, confidence because He chose you. From this place of security, you can live boldly in your calling, knowing your worth was established before time began and your purpose flows from His eternal, unfailing love.
Let’s Pray
Dear God, I am humbly grateful for your grace that I didn’t earn nor deserve, yet that you have freely given to me through Christ Jesus. I know that my calling comes from your eternal purpose rather than my merit, so offer me wisdom today to discover what holy living looks like in order to live up to the calling you have placed on my life. Fill my heart with your Spirit and give me opportunities to be loving, just, wise, gracious, compassionate, merciful, kind and forgiving to everyone I encounter. Help me honor the grace you have given me through my choices, so that I can fulfill the plan you have for my life and bring glory to your name. May I be a vessel of your love and light in this world. Amen.
