Devotional Message
There is a divine gift inside of you that is meant to be used each day. It is not only a privilege to be entrusted with God’s sacred gift, but also a responsibility to ensure we do not waste any more time hiding or neglecting this powerful force that He has placed within us. The purpose of spiritual gifts is not to elevate ourselves, achieve immense fame or success, or become something we gloat about. Rather, the gifts God has placed within us are meant to serve others—to glorify God, not ourselves—and provide lasting joy and fulfillment to our spirits as we do so.
Our gifts come in different forms and expressions—creative and artistic abilities, leadership, encouragement, teaching, healing—yet these abilities are not actually ours to own. We are stewards, vessels chosen by God to bring these facets of His character to life through our work and energy. This is why we must create sacred space each day to follow where our hearts lead us, to pursue the things that call upon us, and to ignite the spark of passion that God has planted within us. Whatever illuminates our spirits, brings us joy, or fulfills us is a gift we must steward faithfully.
Each time we offer faithfulness in the small things—using our love and light to serve others—God entrusts us with greater opportunities. But ultimately, this reveals the beautiful interconnectedness of the body of Christ. Although we each carry different spiritual gifts, they all serve one purpose: to advance God’s kingdom and reflect His varied grace to a world in need. We are threads in His beautiful tapestry, each essential to the masterpiece He is creating.
Let’s Pray
Dear God, thank you for the specific gifts you have given me and for trusting me to be a vessel for your love, light and grace in this unique way. While I am passionate about certain things and know I am good at others, please give me the wisdom to identify and develop the gifts you have placed within me. Help me find courage and bravery to use these powers, not for myself, but to serve others. Give me opportunities over the next day to use my spiritual gifts for your glory, and help me experience joy in seeing how my serving you is blessing others. I am honored to contribute to your masterpiece that you are creating, and will be courageous today to use my gifts even when it feels uncomfortable to do so. Amen.
